What is Bridges?
Bridges is a program offered by Alpha Center for Women to provide material aid, support, and encouragement to those experiencing pregnancy.
Who can join Bridges?
Bridges is for moms and dads who are expecting, or those who have recently had a baby, and are in need of support, friendship, or material assistance.
What do you do in Bridges?
"Learn and Earn"
Learn about your pregnancy, your baby's development, childbirth, breastfeeding, parenting, and nurturing by participating in monthly classes, viewing videos, and utilizing our resource library.
Earn incentive points, which can be used to "purchase" needed baby items such as: swings, playpens, strollers, toddler car seats, changing tables, walkers, high chairs, cribs and mattresses, portacribs, and bassinets. Additional incentive points may be obtained by performing various activities. Our counselors will be happy to give you more information.
What does Bridges offer?
Support
Our Bridges counselors understand the concerns that come along with pregnancy or being a mother. We are dedicated to providing a loving, confidential environment in which you can comfortably share these concerns.
Education
With the use of various videos and books, and by attending monthly meetings or classes, you will have the opportunity to become familiar with your baby's prenatal development, labor and delivery, breastfeeding, and caring for your newborn.
Maternity Boutique
You may select maternity items from our "boutique" for your use and exchange them for different items as your pregnancy progresses. Each time you return the items, laundered and folded, or donate additional items, you will earn incentive points.
Baby Boutique
Shop for baby clothing, furniture, equipment, and accessories in our baby boutique with the incentive points you earn.
Referrals
Our counselors will help you locate needed medical, housing, adoption, and/or social services.
Special Care and Support
are available for women considering the loving option of adoption.
At Alpha Center for Women, our desire is to take the "crisis" out of your unplanned pregnancy. We care about you and your child, and we hope that, in the months to come, our Bridges support program can be a blessing to you.
